How Much is Breast Reduction Surgery?
A breast reduction is not an easy decision, especially when you may be considering a breast lift or an alternative surgery to fix asymmetry. Here at Suffolk Breast Practice, we will help you learn the benefits of breast reduction surgery and the differences of other procedures. But one question remains; how much does a boob reduction cost?
How Much is Breast Reduction Surgery in the UK?
There are many reasons to consider having breast reduction surgery, but the price is not one. While it may be an important factor, you should choose the option that is best for you. Suffolk Breast Practice offers finance support so you can have the comfort of smaller breasts without feeling the burden of a hefty cost.
So, how much is breast reduction surgery? Clinics set their own prices based on the quality of their equipment, and staff experience and qualifications. In the UK, the average cost is £6,500, but you may be eligible for a free surgery if you suffer from physical and mental health problems. We recommend asking your GP for more information if that is the case.
Like all our surgeries, there are no hidden costs. However, our in-person mini 15-minute appointments cost £50, and our 45-minute consultations cost £150. Whereas, our e-consultations are £100. At Suffolk Breast Practice, our breast reduction surgeries cost £6,500 to £8,900 depending on location and procedure.
All immediate post-surgical follow-up appointments up to a year are included in the surgery price. You can also call us at 01473 378715 to make a booking.
What Does a Breast Reduction Procedure Involve?
Having a breast reduction can increase your health and confidence, but what does the surgery involve? We will discuss the benefits, risks, and problems you are facing during your consultation. Your pre-op assessment will ensure the right procedure has been chosen, whether that’s a vertical (lollipop) breast reduction, an inverted T (anchor) breast reduction, or liposuction.
If both the practice and yourself believe a breast reduction is right for you, we will schedule surgery at a convenient time. You will be under general anaesthetic for 2 to 3 hours while the breast reduction surgery takes place, where unwanted fat will be removed, including the glandular tissue and excess skin before repositioning the nipples.
The incisions are then closed with dissolving stitches and dressings will be applied. You will need to take leave from work, halt driving, and refrain from exercising for at least one month, though your long-term recovery time could take up to six months. During this time, you may benefit from a post-surgery bra and support completing daily tasks.
Should I Have a Breast Reduction or Breast lift?
A breast lift is an integral part of the breast reduction and will be performed at the same time, so there is no need to choose between one or the other unless you just require a breast lift.
Many choose breast reduction surgery because the size of their breasts restricts their lifestyle. You may be considering breast reduction surgery because:
- Your breasts are larger than the rest of your body and/or look disproportionate
- The weight of your breasts is causing back or neck pain
- You have adopted incorrect posture, such as hunching or slouching
- Your bra is causing pain around your breasts and shoulders (we recommend you measure your breasts to ensure you are wearing the right bra size)
- Daily tasks are difficult, such as exercising, carrying shopping, etc
- You are prone to infections and irritation in the crease of your breasts and torso
- It is difficult finding suitable clothing and bras
- You attracting unwanted attention
If you are happy with the size of your breasts but not the shape, a breast lift may be for you. This could be because of weight changes or pregnancy, or the natural sagging of your breasts that you wish to be perkier.
If you are considering a different procedure because of the risks, we assure you breast reductions have an extremely high success rate and are a common procedure in the UK. As with any surgery, there are risks and you may experience side effects after your breast reduction. In the unlikely event something goes wrong, we will guide you through your next steps.
