BY WALKING
The hospital is an estimated one hour walk from Ipswich’s city centre. However, we do not recommend walking far after breast surgery.
BY CYCLING
It takes 16 minutes to reach Ipswich Hospital from the city centre by cycling. However, we do not recommend this after breast surgery.
BY TRAIN
It is an hours walk, 20-minute taxi journey or 30-minute bus ride away from Ipswich Railway Station to the hospital. Ipswich is widely accessible across the country, specifically the East, but there may be a train transfer.
BY BUS or PARK AND RIDE
From both Tower Ramparts and Old Cattle Market bus station, it is a 20-minute bus journey directly to Ipswich Hospital. Alternatively, the London Road Park & Ride is a 30-minute ride away from the hospital.
BY CAR or TAXI
From the city centre, is just a 14-minute car or taxi ride away from Ipswich Hospital.
From the North:
- Take the A140 south towards Ipswich
- Merge onto the A14 towards Ipswich (West)

PARKING
There are plenty of parking spaces available for patients and visitors, including Blue Badge holders. Please note, you may need to register your vehicle at the main entrance or general office.
You will need to pay for parking. For the exact rate, refer to the official parking page. Blue Badge holders, after registering their badge and vehicle with the hospital are exempt. In addition, patients on certain benefits can claim back parking charges. Here is how you can pay:
