Will I Have Saggy Boobs After Weight Loss?
Not everyone will end up with saggy boobs after weight loss, but some people will find it happens, particularly if they lose a lot of weight in a short space of time. Loose skin on breasts after weight loss is a common complaint we hear and it can really affect your confidence and self-esteem.
If you’re left with saggy breasts, or lots of loose skin, it’s often uncomfortable and can lead to further problems, such as skin irritation and rashes. In this situation, it can make it hard to find clothes that look and feel good, which isn’t what you want after putting so much effort into achieving your new figure.
What Causes Loose Skin on Breasts After Weight Loss?
The skin relies on proteins called elastin and collagen to keep it feeling firm and tight as it stretches and shrinks. As you gain weight and the skin extends, it can damage the elastin and collagen fibres and put more strain on connective tissue, making it harder for the skin to snap back into place.
This is especially true if you lose weight rapidly and is often why people are left with loose skin on breasts after weight loss.
While there are many physical and mental benefits to weight loss, it’s disheartening to feel unhappy with how your new body looks. Breast surgery can help you to love what you see when you look in the mirror.

Breast Surgery With Suffolk Breast Practice
If you’re faced with saggy boobs after weight loss, you may not feel quite like yourself, or even long for the breasts you used to have. A breast uplift after weight loss is one potential way forward to regain your self-confidence and comfort.
Breast lift surgery reshapes and removes any excess skin you may have after weight loss. This is generally a better option for women with smaller breasts. If it’s larger breasts you want, augmentation is another choice to consider. This surgery uses implants to help restore the shape of your breasts and leave them feeling firmer if you’ve been left with saggy boobs after weight loss.
Alternatively, you may want to look at breast reduction following your weight loss. Larger breasts tend to put extra pressure on supporting ligaments in the skin, which don’t tighten as the skin shrinks. So, although the fatty tissue disappears, the skin is left with a sagging appearance.
Whatever your reasons for surgery, your health and wellbeing are at the heart of what we do at the Suffolk Breast Practice. We’re proud to offer the highest standard of advice to guide you through your options and help you decide the best choice to get you feeling like you again.
